    Automotive
    Dimmer Switch is used to control intensity of dashboard illumination.

    OUR APPROACH

    MIE was able to leverage our vertical integration of precision progressive stamping with our extensive range
    of materialintegration capabilities and automation core competency to develop a unique manufacturing solution for this part. We worked with our customers design group and optimized part design to better deploy the most efficient Design For Manufacturing ideas. The goal was to develop part and processes that would produce and package 100% electrically tested production parts in a fully automated production work cell. The resulting part and production cell integrated reel to reel stamping, and a .   
    continuous strip molding cell,  with an inline trim and form die singulating, testing and packaging the product on demand  in custom re-useable shipping tubes

    MATERIALS
    • Coil Stock:  .005 Thick Be Cu
       
    • Molding Material:  Nylon 6, 30% glass filled  

       
    RESULTS

    • Reduced labor by incorporating re-useable packaging into assembly line at customer.
    • Improved PPM levels by elimination of packaging damage affecting performance.
    • Helped OEM toward achieving goal of recycling at their plants.
    • Combined average annual savings of over $45,000 per year over expendable packaging.
